Watercolor

My passion for watercolor runs deep. I love the way water and pigment flow together, how they wander across the page to create something expressive and alive. I always tell people, the real secret to watercolor is the water itself. I let water have its way—give it freedom to bloom and blossom in ways that create moments of unexpected beauty. Beauty that never fails to amaze me.

When I work with watercolor, I feel myself slipping out of this world. Time softens. Everything else falls away. I become completely absorbed in the process—gentle gradients, shifting transparencies, the dance between what I guide and what I simply allow. In those moments, I’m not just painting; I’m part of the quiet, fluid magic unfolding on the paper.

Embroidery

Embroidery! My first craft…age seven!

Both of my grandmothers taught me, guiding my fingers through those early, wobbly stitches until needle and thread felt like a natural extension of myself. Their lessons weren’t just about technique; they were about slowing down, noticing beauty, and creating something meaningful one tiny stitch at a time.

I’ve stayed true to embroidery. Even as I explored other techniques over the years—candlewicking with its soft, subtle textures, the delicate precision of smocking, and even the hum and rhythm of a sewing machine—embroidery has remained my favorite. There’s something about the intimacy of it, the quiet conversation between thread and fabric, that keeps calling me back.

No matter what else I try, I still love embroidery best. It’s the art that shaped me from the very beginning, and it continues to feel like home.

Collage

Collage captivates me. I love the process of puzzling pieces together, building layers, and playing with contrast and balance until the composition clicks. It transforms fragments into harmony. This applies to both torn-paper collage and cut-paper collage. Collage is a dance of intuition and design, ending in an image that feels both intentional and unexpectedly beautiful.
